Chad Tooke joined the US Army Reserves and became a member or the 414th Civil Affairs Battalion, in Utica, in 1992.

In service to our country, Chad followed his father Wes, his uncle Art and both his grandfathers Arthur Tooke and Hubert Bush.

After 9/11, he volunteered to deploy overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. And fresh from receiving his degree in Computer Science from SUNY IT he deployed in 2002 to work directly with the US Army Special Forces.

He was promoted to First Sergeant and transferred to Drill Sergeant to train troops in Schenectady.

Chad retired from active military service after 21 years. He has two beautiful daughters and another child that is due in May.

Along with his loving family, great friends and a supportive employer, he thanks all the veterans before him and those that continue to serve for their dedication, commitment and selfless service.

Chad Tooke, we thank you! And we salute you as our Hero of the Week.
