Installing cameras and video equipment in the Common Council Conference
room and posting all meetings to the city's website was discussed at a
Utica Common Council meeting tonight. Some council members say
transparency in Utica has been lacking and they want to change that in
the most cost-effective way possible.
"We'd like to put those things on TV and we'd like to put them on our website. We're looking into getting cameras for that room and making everything accessible as often as humanly possible to the public. Everything we do should be put out to the public and we're gonna make that happen in the next few months," says Joe Marino, Utica councilman.
After discussing the video equipment resolution, council members chose to keep the legislation in committee. Marino says he hopes the resolution will be wrapped up by December 19th.
