Hometown Hero Dennis Thorp

But, in 1967 Private First Class Thorp became a medic. During his tour in the First Field Forces he helped save lives in the jungles of a foreign land.
He would later help start and lead the legal action against the maker of the crippling and deadly poison Agent Orange. His action in that movement led to books being published on the chemical, and class action lawsuits agianst it's makers.
He returned in 1969, and said he just missed Woodstock.
For 40 years he's been married to Maria and has two sons, Jim and Dennis, and two daughters, Denise and Dianne.
He is active in the New Harford VFW and is a part of "Healing Waters," a group that takes veterans on tranquil fishing trips.
