Herkimer County Community College students had the chance to try and make a difference all with a pen and some paper.

The college sponsored The Annual Amnesty International Global Write-A-Thon for Human Rights on Thursday.

Students were able to write letters to authorities on behalf of those who have been imprisoned for exercising their rights guaranteed in the Universal Deceleration of Human Rights.

"It felt great," said HCCC student, Kimberly Jump. "I was actually able to give my input on it and just to be able to put my opinion out there and help these imprisoners who don't have those rights."

The event also correlates with Human Rights Day, which is December 10th.
