As a young student it's often difficult to understand financial responsibility - but some area youth got a head start on learning what it's like to manage finances. Sophomores at Oriskany Junior Senior High School experienced just how expensive the real world can be. Students chose professions -- and based on salaries -- had to buy things like houses, cars, and insurance. Organizers say they even throw unexpected life situations at the students in order to prepare them for anything.
Bernadette Sunderlin of New York State Women Inc. says, "It really is an eye opener for them to see what their parents go through, to see how much it will cost them to live for a month, the scenario is a month long."
This was the second year Oriskany held the event.
