Central New York will take a lead in protecting our government, businesses, and communities from cyber threats. The effort to make Griffiss a center of excellence in cyber security has new life. The research institute is part of a one point two million dollar project. And the focus will be to partner government agencies with colleges across the region. Research assignments will include topics from cyber security, information management, to military command and control. Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says the institute will be the glue that holds the Griffiss complex together.

Brindisi added, "This institute is really going to bring national attention to the work that we're doing here. And in the process hopefully create some jobs, retain the jobs that we already have there, and hopefully fend off future defense cuts which could affect our area." Assemblyman Brindisi says the institute is a great way to leverage assets the area already has.
