Those predicting a sudden apocalypse today have been disappointed. At least so far, as the day started and continued like any other. Eyewitness News spoke with one group who say today is the start of a new beginning.

Spring Farm CARES Animal Sanctuary held an open house for community members this afternoon. Employees say they're celebrating the arrival of what they say is a "New World Era."

It's been talked about for months... It's trending on twitter... It's Doomsday.

"Very hyped up online, like Google, fFcebook, all these things, that the world is gonna end. I think it's a big understanding," says Todd Allen, Spring Farm CARES employee.

Employees at Spring Farm CARES say the world's not ending, but...

"What it is, is the end of an era and the beginning of a new era," says Bonnie Reynolds, Spring Farm CARES employee.

"I'm seeing a difference in people, just people on the street, people talking more to one another and things are getting just more in tune," says Joanne Cronan-Hamoy, Spring Farm CARES employee.

"It is a change in human interactions and psyche and how we treat each other," says Allen.

Reynolds says today marks the end of the 5,125 year cycle in the Mayan calendar, and the birth of a new and better age. She welcomes guests to take part in a unique and hands-on experience.

"Write their vision and be able to put it on to the wheel here," says Cronan-Hamoy.

People can come here to Spring Farm CARES and pick their very own personal spiritual message from one of the animals.

"I hope that they come with an open heart and open mind, and take in what they have to share because they do have lots to share with us all and that's really what im hoping for," says Allen.

What would you want to do if the world ended today? We asked your thoughts on our Facebook page, and here's what some of you had to say.

Brian B. says, "If it were the last day, and I was sure of it, I'd be down at Disney World with the family. End the world at the happiest place on earth."

And Joe C. says, "I'd want to be at the highest point of a cliff or mountain, with the person who matters most."

Now the folks at Spring Farm CARES will be holding their open house until 8 tonight. And whether you believe or not, they encourage everyone to come out and celebrate.
