Central New Yorkers hit the stores for last minute holiday shopping

Some might call it putting off the inevitable.
But for Barneveld resident, Patrick Romeo, holiday shopping on Christmas Eve is a tradition.
"It's a planned thing for me, usually do it every Christmas Eve," he said. "I like it because it's so close to Christmas, it's more in the spirit of Christmas to come out on Christmas Even. When you go out in November or early December I'm just not in the mood to shop."
With the holiday's known to be a time for crowded malls and retail stores, Romeo says waiting until the day before actually has it's advantages.
"I think this is one of the slowest days in the mall. this weekend it was packed, I wasn't here. This is usually a day that not a lot of people come out," said Romeo.
For Clark Mills resident Mike Doherty, Christmas Eve shopping isn't exactly a tradition, but last minute shopping isn't anything new for him.
"I am one of the all time greatest procrastinators," he said. "I always wait until the last minute. I don't like coming into jam packed malls and all that."
And while many are picking out that final gift for family and friends on Christmas Eve, some are here to pay Santa Claus one last visit before his big night.
"If they don't talk to him then he might not end up stopping by our house, so we had to make sure they said Santa, we want to get these last things," said
