It was a busy afternoon at the Kossuth Fish Market in Utica on Christmas Eve.

December 24th is the busiest day of the year for many local fish markets.

This is because of different religious traditions like no meat on Christmas Eve for Catholics and the Feast of the Seven Fishes.

To make sure they are ready for the crowds, the store manager at the fish market says a lot of preparation goes into making sure everything is fully stocked for Christmas Eve.

"I don't even go home. I sleep here with my father. We're up at 3 o'clock already preparing food. We're breading haddock already, getting everything ready, the orders we're frying them up, it's just crazy times. We're here three hours before we even open," said Manager, Francesco Affatigato.

And although there's a lot of hard work that goes into getting ready for Christmas Eve, Affatigato says it's an experience they enjoy every year.
