One area church held their annual Christmas Eve service and they also celebrated by putting on a Christmas play.

Members of Crosspoint Church in Yorkville presented the story of the birth of Jesus. About 200 people attended tonight's service. The pastor of the church says he hopes people understand that Christmas is more than just presents and gift giving.

"The church has been sensitive to the needs like in NYC, Staten Island, Long Island. We've gone there and we've served. And of course with the recent shootings and all that has been going on with the economy, this year I think in particular has a bit more meaning to us," said Pastor Samuel Macri.

After the Christmas play, church members participated in a candlelight service.
