Area farmers are continuing their education in managing their crops and controlling pest problems.

It's all a part of the 2013 Oneida County Crop Congress, held at the VFW in Clinton.

Farmers are provided the newest research conducted at Cornell and other universities regarding obstacles farmers may face.

Other topics included disease and fertilizer management.

"Each one of the subjects that we talk about today will hopefully improve their ability to manage their crops and in so doing that minimize their costs giving them that margin of profitability. That's one of the toughest challenges, keeping your costs low enough that there is a profit margin," said Cornell Cooperative Extension educator, Jeff Miller.

The farmers who attended today's meeting earned re-certification credits.
