Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency Offers "Volunteer Income Tax Assistance"

As tax season begins on January 30th, one area agency is offering a
service to help make the process easier for community members.
The Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency will once again be offering VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. This includes free income tax preparation and filing for individuals and families earning up to $51,000 dollars per year.
"Prices for tax preparations have really skyrocketed at a lot of the different companies doing them so this will save them money because it's free. It's more or less for low income people that need their money and they don't need to pay these high costs they've been paying to some of the companies in the area, so it really help them put more money in their pocket," says Venice Ervin, Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency Program Director.
MVCAA says e-filing is secure and accurate, and people will get their refunds even faster. Scheduling for appointments starts tomorrow, Tuesday, January 15th.
