The City of Utica's website is getting a new look, but the transformation isn't being done the traditional way.

Utica Councilman, Joe Marino wanted to get college students involved in redesigning the site.

He says four colleges in the Utica area will be competing with each other in designing a new layout for the site.

Along with competing, it will also be a college course with credits.

Marino says it's a win-win situation for everyone involved.

"I really wanted to focus on the talent and the education that we have here. Everyone talks about a brain drain that the city has, we educate them and then we see them leave four years later, this is something that can get them involved," said Marino.

Marino says the students will work on the design all semester long and the city will vote on their favorite design in May.

The official kick off of the competition is February 1st.
