Herkimer County had a good year when it comes to spending, according to the County Administrator.

County Administrator, James Wallace says Herkimer County is seeing an increase in sales tax.

Mr. Wallace says in 2011, the county brought in $18.3 million and the past year he says it's gone up to $19.1 million.

Wallace says for things like county, town, and village budgets, the increase is a help.

And with the increase, Mr. Wallace says it's a good source of revenue for the government and also shows that vitality is coming back into the county.

"We also saw a very good year in Webb this summer, that always helps. We're seeing some of our merchants do a little bit better, we're seeing those receipts go up so from an economic development standpoint, we're starting to see some progress.

Wallace says he hopes to see this kind of increase continue in the years to come.
