Utica mayor Robert Palmieri is expected to present his 2013- 2014 budget Tuesday morning.

Although City Hall was closed today because of Presidents' Day, the mayor and his staff were at work finalizing details of the proposed budget.

The mayor says this year's budget is a continuation of hard decisions made last year with an $8 million deficit

He says with this proposed budget not everyone is going to be happy.

"If you look at the cost of doing business with the medical costs, with pension costs, with your 85% of the budget which is contractual there are certainly items in there that are out of our control of the administration or anyone. We met them we understand where we need to make the cuts. But we still have to provide services to the customer which is the people and that's what we will do," said Mayor Palmieri.

The mayor will present his budget tomorrow to the Board of Estimate and Apportionment.

Tuesday night the mayor will bring his budget proposal to a citizen's budget forum. Everyone is invited. It will take place at the Jewish Community Center at 6:30 p.m.

A second meeting will be held on February 21st at the Utica School of Commerce at 6:30 p.m.

And the last forum will be held February 25th at 6:30 at the North Utica Senior Center.
