We all get that feeling.

The longing for warmer temperatures as spring is slowly, but surely approaching.

"I'm kind of tired of the cold," said Utica resident, Ryan Litchard. "Hockey is over now, I'm into track, I'd like it to be a littler warmer so we can go outside and run."

During the winter, some people can experience "Seasonal Affective Disorder."

William Hysell, a professor in the Center for Arts and Humanities at Mohawk Valley Community College says part of the cause of those "Winter Blues" is the lack of rays from above.

"This reduction in light causes us to not produce melatonin and this can lead to depression," he said.

For folks that think they might be dealing with something like this: Mr. Hysell has some tips.

"you want to look at what you're thinking about," said Hysell. "Most people would say they are thinking about Spring and this isn't it."

Instead of dwelling on things you may be missing out on, Hysell says to focus on preparing for what you plan on doing when the warmer weather hits.

"If you like to fish, you can start getting your fishing gear in order. I like to motorcycle and kayak so I think about this time of year starting to get those things," he said.

And while some are yearning for warmer days ahead, others say the more snow the better.

"I long for it," said Utica resident, Viktor Sykora. "I used to do a lot of shoveling when I was a kid earning some money in the winters, that's the only time I made money."
