After a long process and wait with construction around Oneida Square, traffic is finally open for the roundabout.

The long awaited roundabout opened Monday evening, and cars and pedestrians were already using the new structure.

"It's a good step forward, I noticed people are moving through there pretty well," said Utica resident, Jim Gallagher.

The roundabout already had people talking the first night it was open.

"People don't seem to be using their direction, but I think people will get used to it," said Gallagher.

"It's good, but it looks a little confusing to go through. It seems like certain people that can't drive might cause a couple of accidents and stuff. Otherwise, it looks good and everything," said nearby resident, Lamarr Whitehurst.

Some around the area were simply just happy to see a new look instead of construction.

"It's good to have a neighborhood that has a facelift once in awhile," said Gallagher.

Nearby resident, Gil Torres says he got tired of looking at the construction for so long.

Although some were glad to see the roundabout finally open, one Utica resident just doesn't see the point of the structure.

"The do not work. This is only going to create confusion for the people. The businesses are going to be affected, they have been affected," said Roberta Ellis-McMann

She says that pedestrian cross will create a problem as well.

Others feel that with the roundabout opening, businesses will start to pick back up again.

However, they say it will take time for those going through to brush up on driving skills through the structure.

Although the traffic is open, some construction is still going on in the area.
