Grammy winning jazz a cappella group "Take 6" performed at Hamilton College tonight. According to the group's website, "Take 6" is inspired by the doo-wop and gospel traditions from the 1950s. They're leaders in the second wave pop and jazz vocal groups that emerged in the 1990s. They've evolved a fair amount over time, but "Take 6" began in 1980 at Oakdale College in Alabama. Now, 30 years later, they've won multiple Grammy's and tour around the world. People came from all over to hear them perform tonight. Astena Smith performed with "Chosen Generation," who open for "Take 6" tonight, and was thrilled to see them perform. "I love them they are awesome, I have everything they have ever done," she said. And she wasn't alone--students, professors and central New Yorkers lined up at the box office until the last minute to get tickets.
