The New York Department of Motor Vehicles announced earlier this week that changes would be made in the state vision test.

This would mean that drivers would now be allowed to "self certify" their vision or fill in a legal binding form online.

But, Governor Cuomo has now put a hold on the new change.

Some Central New York drivers don't agree with a "self certify" exam.

"I think it's absolute insanity because the elderly are having problems in their older age of seeing," said Utica resident William Brookmen.

"You need to take an eye exam. What, an 80-year-old lady is going to come by and just check in and say I'm fine and the let her drive? And god forbid she kills a little kid cause they can't see," said Charles Joseph.

Joseph says that it's a fact of life to start losing eye sight and it's an important matter that everyone get an eye exam if they are out on the road.
