The Utica Brewers recently won the national championship in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. And they have no plans to slow down. While the season doesn't begin until June, recruiting and promotion is in full swing.
The Brewers recruit top baseball college players from around the country to play for 8 weeks during the summer. They've been around for about 5 years now, and owner Butch Russo says this year, they're looking to put a lot into promoting the team.
Russo says the goal is to bring college level baseball to Utica, but with a minor league atmosphere. They're going to come out with a lot of different, affordable, promotional packages for families and businesses. Additionally, he says they're looking to put in a party deck and debut a new team mascot.
The Utica Brewers Baseball Club is set to make more announcements about the upcoming season Wednesday, October 12th.
