The Bowhunter Cup is an indoor lacrosse exhibition game between the Iroquois national and USA Men's National teams. The game may be labeled as an exhibition game but there is no love loss between these two teams. The Bowhunter Cup features the best of the best indoor lacrosse talent. Both rosters are filled with local players and many former Syracuse Orange greats like Joel White. This will be his first Bowhunter Cup and he knows how good his opponents will be. "You look at their roster and it's kind of intimidating, you know you look at all these guys and these guys have been playing the box game for their entire life. So I'm excited to get out there and test my ability but at the same time get out there and talk a little but to Cody Jameson and Sid Smith a little bit." Last year the US team won the inaugural Bowhunter cup in Syracuse, this year the Oneida Nation hosts their second premier lacrosse event on its homeland and five year pro Brett Bucktooth knows how much this game means to his team. "You know it's a great event, myself, Cody Jameson, Sid Smith were able to play in the all-star game last year so we got a little taste of it but to play for your national team here on native homelands is really special." Assistant Coach Regy Thorpe played in the event last year and knows how important it is to both teams. "It's going to be exciting for the young guys as well as the Iroquois, Iroquois have some veteran guys, also just a lot of guys that represent the game and what it means on the Iroquois side and thats pretty special." Former SU great Thomas Guadagnolo understands what a game like this means to the lacrosse community. "There's a lot of Iroquois and a lot of people who back up team USA around here, it's definitely an area that has both sides of the ball at least fan base wise. So I think this is the perfect area to do it, we're going to have a great showing, I wouldn't be surprised if this is sold out and I think the atmosphere is going to be awesome." The Iroquois team will try to win their first Bowhunter Cup this Sunday, faceoff is set for 6 PM.
