The pop and folk singer is best known for her single "A Thousand Miles," which debuted back in 2002.
Carlton released her latest album, "Rabbits on the Run" in July of this year.
Anxious fans lined up before the show waiting to see the singer.
One fan even drove two hours to see her favorite artist, but that's not the farthest she's traveled.
"I flew to North Carolina in February to see her at another college, and I've gone to New York City and Boston. I just think her lyrics really touch upon a deep core within people, and she's got beautiful melodies and she's just a very beautiful person. You can tell that and it comes out in her music," said Vanessa Carlton fan, Sara Braren.
Carlton is on her national tour, and MVCC says it's thrilled to have the singer perform on campus.
The concert is part of the school's cultural series.
There are over 100 events every semester in both the Rome and Utica campuses.
This concert was nearly sold out.
