If you're not into eating healthy today's the day to turn over a new leaf. November 2nd, 2011 is Start Eating Healthy Day for the American Heart Association.
They say people need to be eating four to five cups of fruits and vegetables everyday, three one-ounce servings of fiber rich whole grains a day, and eating more fish and nuts. And of course, its important cut down on sodium and sugar.
Linda Lane of the American Heart Association had some easy tips to sticking to a healthy diet, and staying away from those vending machines and fast food restaurants. She says to bring fruit and veggies to snack on, put snack in small ziplock bags for portion control, and prepare food the night before you need it. And with the holidays coming up she recommends eating away from the food station, using smaller plates, and taking small portions.
