The Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council has a big plan for the area economy. They held a meeting today finalizing a plan for economic growth in the Mohawk Valley. That plan will be submitted to the state on Monday. Four out of ten regions in the state will receive $40 million in state funds to execute their plans.
Lt. Governor Robert Duffy says he's optimistic that this region will get the funding eventually to complete the plan. " These are projects that either have the support to get started or hopefully the finances to finish," he says, "The mere fact that the projects that have been identified have been put forth as the most regionally significant for the six counties I think gives them a huge leg up to get them completed."
Projects in the plan include investing in local businesses, creating grants that stimulate small business, and working to bring together area education systems and the workforce.
