Mayor-Elect Robert Palmieri will appoint Jim Murphy to be his Chief of Staff.

The 57-year-old Utica native held numerous positions in the New York State Assembly, including Director of Personnel, Director of the Intern Program and Director of Regional Services for the Assembly Majority. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Utica College.

"Mayor-Elect Palmieri has made it clear that it is a privilege to work for the City of Utica. Working anywhere in the city government is no longer a job, but a mission. Accordingly, I will do all that I possibly can to justify this appointment," Murphy stated.

Murphy currently lives in Saratoga County community of Burnt Hills and will establish a residence in the City of Utica. He will be paid an annual salary of $30,000 and will receive no health or pension benefits.
