"I love volunteering and helping out." Maybe it's the time of year or maybe it's just the kindness in her heart. But one nine year old girl is finding ways to warm the hearts of others. Skyler Serfass has been volunteering ever since she was four years old. "I've gone to the Human Society and dropped off food and blankets, that's for my birthday I did that. And I've gone to the Rome Nursing Home and handed out stuff like this before and yeah I've done this many time I love this." Skyler's mother recalls a unique birthday party her daughter requested. "She had a birthday party at five, she did the food for the Humane Society, they brought gives but her family had to bring he toys but her friends brought food and stuff like that for the Human Society." Skyler saved up her money for an entire year to buy enough carnations for every resident at Brookdale Senior Living, and they were pleasantly surprised. "I think it's just great that somebody is so interested and thinking about us and wants to bring flowers here and being a youngster too, I think it's just marvelous." "I just think that's amazing that a child today would share that much of herself and her money and her time I think it's wonderful." And this time she wasn't alone, friends Samatha and Alexander volunteered as well. And they all agree on the most rewarding part. "People that say you made my day really makes me happy because I like when they say that."
As Skyler put it this isn't the first time she's done something like this and it certainly won't be the last.
