There's beaches in the summer and apple picking in the fall, but for New Yorkers the winter time means skiing. Except this winter, mother nature hasn't lived up to her reputation. However, one winter resort is trying to supplement what mother nature could not provide. The Val Bialas sports center opened up their terrain park today. "Oh man I haven't snowboarded all year so I was just excited when my friend, he works here, told me they were open, so I decided to come out real quick and hit the slopes. I mean it's not the best or nothing but it's good for now." Owner Mark Ford is trying to make it the best by offering something that others cannot. "And our demographics of the people that we're dealing with were juveniles from 10 to 20 years old, predominantly snowboarders. We made what are called terrain park features during the summer. We wanted to give them what they wanted which is an adrenaline rush." And that's exactly what snowboarders of all ages are hoping for and even on opening day they get what their looking for. "It's really nice because I don't mind the drives to different places like Woods Valley but this is nice here, I like it because it's a snow park and everything. So you can basically do all the stuff you could do there but this is just a snow park." Other adrenaline junkies love how convenient the hill is. "I haven't snowboarded since last winter so I just wanted to come out I was excited since last year I couldn't wait to get out here. It's awesome because I'm just right up the street so instead of a long drive to Woods Valley, I got it right here." The rest of Central New York may be green but there is one place with a little white on it.
