Robert Palmieri was sworn into office Friday night with all his family by his side.

The mayor says it was a wonderful experience having his wife, all five children, and six grandchildren to be able to share this special moment with him.

"It was absolutely more than I could ever anticipate. It was just beautiful. It's overwhelming. It's very humbling. It's an honor and a pleasure to serve the citizens of Utica, New York. I'm looking at moving the city forward," said Mayor Palmieri.

"It was awesome. It was so well deserved. He's worked so hard, and it's just wonderful. I'm so happy that his prayers have come through. We've always been a team, and we'll continue to work together and anytime he needs me, I'll be there, and if he doesn't need me, I'll still be there," said the Mayor's wife, Susan Palmieri.

Susan Palmieri says she looks forward to helping her husband, and reaching out to others in the community to keep in touch.
