NEW HARTFORD — Despite the soggy ground fashioned by a steady rain that soiled pant legs and muddied balls at Yahnundasis Golf Club, the game of Rome's Matt Campbell looked immaculate for two rounds at the New York State Golf Association's Men's Amateur Championship on Thursday.

"I was hot all day," Campbell said. "I've been hitting the ball in play and making the putts I need to make."

Campbell, an RFA graduate and medalist in the Section III high school tournament this spring, never trailed in his two match play rounds and advanced to today's quarterfinals. He was seeded 20th going into the day and started off by defeating No. 13 J.J. Shearer 3 and 1.  Full story at UticaOD.com
