Legion teams begin District V tournament today

ROME — Smith Post is safely into the New York
State American Legion playoffs, but five other teams are trying to
extend their respective seasons in the District V tournament beginning
today.Ilion Post, which won its eighth-straight Herkimer County championship, is hoping to break through this year.
"We've come up against some pretty good teams and haven't been able to break through in the past," Ilion coach Eric Moreau said.
Ilion is going to have to overcome a couple injuries if this is going to be its year. Pitchers Dan DeKalb and Jamie Barr are both sidelined with injury. Barr is out for the season and DeKalb is only medically cleared to play in the field because he hasn't fully rehabilitated his injured labrum. Full story at UticaOD.com
