Tonight the City of Utica held a public meeting to discuss Community Development Block Grant funds. Members of the community along with city officials discussed how the funds could be allocated. CDBG grants are funds the City uses to improve the community. These meetings offer an opportunity for officials to find out what the community would like to see improved.
The Director of Urban and Economic Development Brian Thomas says, "Really it's not so much what they get out of them, it's what the City gets out of them. We're here to hear from the neighborhood and the citizens as to priorities and activities they feel should be focused on with the CDBG funds."
Last year the city had over $2 million in CDBG funding. Tonight was the first of three meetings.
