The leaves have changed and the temps have dropped and although hockey rules the roost in Utica, Syracuse Basketball is king of the hill in Central New York. Tonight Coach Boeheim helped launch ESPN radio's new FM station 99.1.
Coach says, "Well we have great fans in Utica so it's fun to be down here. I know a lot of people come down the thruway to get to our games so. We used to love coming here a playing an exhibition game, we can't do that now but we know we have a lot of great fans down here."
The 2012-2013 orange loose four of their best players but this young group is ranked 9th best in the nation according to coach Boeheim's peers. Coach may have a little more work to do with his young guys but this team does have 9 returning players.
"I don't know I like to coach old guys that know what they're doing. But we've got some veterans and I think they'll respond and we have some very good young players, so it should be an exciting team to watch" says the Hall of Fame Coach.
Coach kept busy this summer with the Olympic basketball team winning a second straight gold metal but he says that was probably his last go around with USA Basketball and it was a special way to go out.
Coached added, "To win a gold medal for your country, there's nothing better, we had a great experience, I had a great experiences and a lot of fun."
