Bellinger, son reach U.S. semis

Cody Bellinger and Chandler (Ariz.) National are two steps from winning the United States Little League World Series.

Bellinger, son of 1986 Oneonta High graduate Clay Bellinger, went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Chandler’s 9-2 victory over Coon Rapids, Minn., before 9,600 fans at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pa., on Wednesday.

Chandler finished with a 2-1 record in Pool B, earning the second semifinal playoff spot. Lubbock, Texas, which defeated Chandler, 5-1, on Sunday, is top seed in Pool B.

The National advanced the United States semifinals, where they’ll play Southeast representative Warner Robbins, Ga., at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Warner Robbins is the top seed in Pool A. The winner advances to the final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.  Full story at The Daily Star.
