Tax Practitioner Institute seminar being held at Radisson Hotel in Utica

Area accountants will be learning about recent changes and updates in tax laws for the next couple of days.

The Tax Practitioner Institute seminar is being held at the Radisson Hotel in Utica. With the recent presidential election, the speaker of the event says there will be a big impact on the upcoming changes in tax laws.

"Are they going to extend the so-called bush tax cuts? Are they going to change? If nothing happens we will have substantial changes, not because of the new law, but because the expiration of the old law," said Gary Hoff, an Extension Specialist in Taxation.

Attendees of the two-day event are fulfilling their requirement of continuing education credit for the new title registered tax return preparers.

They must have meet fifteen hours.
