Devon Thomas’ two-run homer with none out in the seventh inning Tuesday gave the Oneonta Tigers the lead for good in a 4-2 New York-Penn League victory over the host Vermont Lake Monsters in front of 2,212 fans.

Third baseman Cory Middleton opened the O-Tigers’ at-bats in the seventh with an infield single to shortstop off reliever Buzz Vargas (0-1), who replaced Vermont starter Glenn Gibson at the beginning of the inning. Vargas blew his save opportunity when designated hitter Thomas homered to right-center field for a 3-2 lead. Full story at the Daily Star.
