Hundreds try out as baseball returns to Utica

Jay Acton had a dream to bring pro baseball back to the area.

The 200 or so players who tried out for the New York State League of Professional Baseball on Wednesday have dreams of playing professional baseball.

So at least for one day, Murnane Field was their field of dreams.

"I was in the midst of trying to be in a major league organization and I got a call from one of the coaches here," Thomas R. Proctor graduate Dan Maycock said. "Everybody's here doing what I'm trying to do. This is where you get to prove people wrong." Full story at the Utica OD.
