by Anne Delaney - NEW HARTFORD — John Duthie had seen the line before.
And the experience on the 18th green Saturday was valuable for the 18-year-old, who used his putter to get a come-from-behind 1-up, 36-hole win over Andrew DiBitetto in the New York State Golf Association men's amateur championship at Yahnundasis Golf Club.
Duthie sank a putt on 18 for bogey after chipping back onto the green on his fourth shot on the 447-yard par 4 hole. He had a similar line at the hole during his morning round when he parred 18.
"I went over it fast because I knew what it would do," Duthie said.
Duthie, a recent graduate of Lansing High School, was a two-time state champion but he was an underdog as the No. 16 seed this week in New Hartford. DiBitetto, a soon-to-be senior at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, was the defending champion. Full story at UticaOD.com
