Smith holds on to beat top-seeded Whitestown Post

 MARCY — Smith Post held off a late rally by Whitestown Post to upset the No. 1 seed in the second round of the double-elimination Oneida County American Legion Baseball Tournament.

Smith starter Carl Tardugno struggled in the sixth but shut down a Whitestown rally to hold on for a 5-4 win.

"He did a nice job against a tough offensive team," Smith coach Tony Abone Jr. said. "He pitched a hell of a game."

Abone was pleased with his starters performance, given the fact that Tardugno took a loss in his only other game against Whitestown, which was Smith's opening game.  Full story at UticaOD.com
