ONEONTA _ Maybe they’ll name a medical procedure after Jason Stephens some day.

The Oneonta Tigers certainly know he can stop the bleeding.

Two seasons removed from Tommy John surgery, right-hander Stephens shut down the O-Tigers with five innings of two-hit relief Wednesday as the Staten Island Yankees earned a 9-5 New York-Penn League victory in front of 715 fans at Damaschke Field.

"(Stephens) was sharp and he threw his breaking ball for strikes," said O-Tigers manager Andy Barkett, whose team is 1-1 against Staten Island in its three-game home series, which concludes at 7 tonight.

Oneonta (20-15), which will start Guillermo Moscoso tonight, fell 1 1/2 games behind the Lowell Spinners (21-13) for first place in the NY-Penn’s Stedler Division.  Full story at The Daily Star.
