Pohl leads Central baseball to bronze

Philip Pohl of Cooperstown helped the Central scholastic baseball team to an Empire State Games bronze medal Saturday in Westchester.

Pohl, who will be a senior at Cooperstown Central this fall, went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs in a 7-5 victory over Adirondack. Pohl played catcher for Central in the bronze medal game.

Also Saturday, Pohl went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI as the designated hitter for Central in its 12-6 win over New York City.

Pohl earned Daily Star and Class C State Player of the Year honors as a junior this past spring.  Full story at The Daily Star.
