by John Pitarresi - UTICA — It was a beautiful night for baseball and for just having fun.
Chris Bennett of Utica and a half-dozen other youngsters were scrambling around on the big blowup bouncers behind the backstop at Donovan Stadium while Whitestown Post and Shrub Oak battled in the first round of the New York State American Legion baseball tournament Wednesday.
"We wanted to watch baseball and do this, too," Bennett said.
Bennett and his friends were giving a long inflated slide, 24 feet high, quite a workout.
"They're having great fun," said Steve Bennett, no relation to Chris, who has owned Bennett's Party Time Bouncers of Westmoreland the last several years.
That pleases Don Oliver to no end. Oliver is the host chairman for the tournament, which is being held at Donovan for the fifth time in six years. He's lined up a variety of entertainment to go along with the eight-team tournament, which runs through Sunday. Full story at UticaOD.com
