Smith Post charges past Dolan

UTICA - Pitcher Kyle Richardson allowed one
earned run and struck out 16 in eight innings and Smith Post of Rome
rallied for two runs in the top of the eighth and scored nine more in
the ninth to beat Dolan Post of Lockport 12-6 in Wednesday night's
opening round of the New York State American Legion Baseball
Championships at Murnane Field's Donovan Stadium.Smith Post's T.J. Abone drove in three runs for the Oneida County champions, now 20-8 overall and playing District VI champion Vestal Post (22-8) at 8 p.m. in the second of today's winners' bracket games. Richardson, who was relieved by Mike Stevens in the bottom of the ninth, improved his record to 7-2.
District VIII champ Dolan Post (18-8), playing in the state tournament for the first time, scored in the bottom of the first and led 1-0 after five innings. Full story at UticaOD.com
