Utica College men's hockey set to host opening round of playoffs on Wednesday.

The Utica College men's hockey team earned the fourth seed and will host fifth seeded Neumann University in the first round of the ECAC Men's West Conference Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The nationally-ranked No. 13 Pioneers finished the regular season in fourth place in the conference standings after posting a 4-6-2 record in conference play (15-8-2 overall). The playoff pairings came down to the conference's final regular season contest between Elmira and Neumann on Sunday.  The two teams skated to a 2-2 overtime tie at Neumann.  Neumann (13-7-3, 3-6-3 ECAC West) finished the regular season in fifth place with nine total points, just one point behind the fourth place Pioneers. 
Third seeded Hobart will travel to second seeded Manhattanville on Saturday, while the winner of the Utica/Neumann first round match-up will travel to top seeded Elmira College on Saturday. 
 Neumann went 2-0-1 against UC in three games this season.  The last regular season meeting between the two teams on Feb. 11 resulted in a 3-3 overtime tie in front of 3,453 fans at the Aud.

The Pioneers are 4-3-2 in their last nine games.  Junior assistant captain Evan Chlanda leads UC with 33 points on 15 goals and 18 assists through 25 regular season games.  Senior captain Tim Coffman trails Chlanda with 11 goals and a team-best 21 assists, while sophomore Trever Hertz has 30 points on 12 goals and 18 assists.
