VERNON — Twin 20-lap features for the 358-modifieds will be held this weekend at Utica-Rome Speedway along with double point races for the sportsman, pro stocks and pure stocks during the track’s Sunday night slate of racing action.
Stewart Friesen is the current 358-modified points leader but will be tested this weekend with two 20-lap features that will each be paying out full points. Hot on his tail for the $8,000 season points title are Pat Ward in second place and two-time defending track champion Willy Decker of Vernon in third position.
Double points will also be on the line in the sportsman, pro stocks and pure stocks. Current point leaders include Mike Button in the sportsman standings, Jerry Holmes in the pro stocks and Russ Marsden in the pure stocks.
Jim Roberts also sits atop the IMCA modified point standings heading into a normal points event this weekend for that series.
Gates are scheduled to open at 3 p.m. and racing action is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 on Sunday. More news at Rome Sentinel.
