UTICA — Only in its second year, the Inner City Softball league has evolved into a community gathering.

It features more than 100 player who mingle, eat off the grill and play softball in between merry-go-rounds and monkey bar trips at Quinn Playground in Utica.

"I care about the children," founder Linda Leggett said. "We've got to take care of these young kids."

This year's award ceremony took place Sunday, where the kids were given trophies and meals for their efforts.

"I'm probably going to put my trophy under my bed," Dayquan Linen, 6, said.

Linen said it will be his first trophy although he expects another one from football this fall.  Full story at UticaOD.com
