From hydrofracking to tax cuts, today two state senators discussed a number of issues New Yorkers are facing. Senator Joseph Griffo invited senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos to Oneida County today. Among the topics discussed -tightening budgets. Many area municipalities are facing tough budget years with many unfunded mandates. And the two discussed what can be done.
Skelos says, "For our counties we've enacted Medicate relief, a lot more of their Medicate costs which is going to save them millions upon millions of dollars. But the property tax cap is intended to instill some discipline in terms of spending."
Senator Skelos says Upstaters are facing many of the same issues as those from Long Island, the area he represents.
