A young girl is still recovering after being rescued from a burning building at the Adrean Terrace Apartments in Utica.

Officials say the four-year-old girl was critically injured Friday night and is currently being treated in Syracuse.

The Utica Fire Department says the family lost everything in the fire and is asking for the community's help to assist them.

"It isn't something that we do often. But, the guys' hearts went out to this little girl and their family. This little girl was seriously injured and her family, they are refugees and they are from another country," said Chief Russell Brooks.

Monetary donations will be accepted at the fire department headquarters on Bleeker Street.

Chief Brooks says the money will help the family with travel costs to Syracuse and replace lost property.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
