Miners fall at Saratoga

The Little Falls Miners first road game of the year did not go as planned as they lost at defending NYCBL champion Saratoga 9-6 Saturday night, in front of 700 fans at East Side Rec. Field.
Chris Kowalski (Boston College) hit a 2-run double in the third, putting the Miners (1-1) up 3-0. Kowalski went 3-5 on the night.
With the Miners up 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Saratoga (2-0) scored seven runs, with Jon Nicolla (Duke) hitting a 3-run double, giving the Phillies a 4-3 lead, and chasing Miners pitcher Dan Seip (Holy Cross).
Seip took the loss going 4 2/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits, while striking out four and walking three.
Little Falls fell to 2-9 all-time against Saratoga, losing eight straight to the Phillies.
The Miners have a short turn around, hosting Watertown Sunday (June 10th) at 1pm. Caleb Thielbar (South Dakota State University) will start for the Miners against Watertown's Bryan Earley.
