The Little Falls Miners lost their fourth straight game Saturday night as they fell in Glens Falls 4-1. It was the Miners first ever loss to the Golden Eagles. The Miners won all eight games against the Eagles last year.
The Miners took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth when Mark Ortega (Boston College) had an RBI single. Ortega finished 1-4 with an RBI. Tom Edwards (Rutgers) went 3-4.
The Eagles came right back scoring all four of their runs in the bottom of the sixth, taking a 4-1 lead. The last three runs came on a 3-run HR from Luis Seliz.
Eagles (5-2) starting pitcher Tommy Meagher picked up the win, going seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits, while striking out seven and walking one.
Miners (3-5) starter Caleb Thielbar (South Dakota State University) took the loss, going six innings allowing four runs-two earned on four hits while striking out four and walking three.
The Miners have a quick turnaround as they host thruway rival Amsterdam Sunday (June 17th) for a father's day 1pm start. All fathers get into Vet's Park for half price ($3). The Miners beat the Mohawks 11-2 on opening night. No starting pitchers have been named.
