Miners win 5-0, snap losing streak

The Little Falls Miners snapped their four game losing streak, beating Amsterdam 5-0 in front of 407 fans at Vet's Park.
The Miners jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first when Tom Edwards
(Rutgers) hit a two-run homer over the left-center field fence. James Donaldson (Northeastern) then hit a double to left, followed by a RBI single by Chris Kowalski (Boston College).
The Miners made it 4-0 in the second on a Richard Gonzalez (VCU).
sacrafice fly. Little Falls closed out the scoring in the third when Matt Leskiw (VCU) hit a RBI single plating Edwards.
Miners (4-5) starting pitcher Dustin Johnson (Bloomsburg) picked up the win, going five innings, allowing five hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2.
Mohawks (2-6) starting pitcher Lucas Nellis took (1-1) the loss pitching six innings allowing five runs-all earned, on seven hits while striking out seven and walking five.
The Miners return to action Tuesday in Amsterdam for a 7pm start, and return home Wednesday (June 20th) to face Watertown in a 7pm start. All students and senior citizens get into Vet's Park for $1, and all hot dogs and soda are $1 also.
